Natures turn…….

Whooping Crane

Recently drove to Lamar, Texas to see the Whooping Cranes I had been hearing about.  I couldn’t have picked a worse day, weather wise.  When I got there just before sunrise it was raining, cold and the wind was blowing just making it plum miserable.

My watch said it was close to sunrise but the heavy cloud cover could have fooled anyone.  I stood at the location for a short period looking and wondering if the cranes would show up.  I was wanting to see them.  I was watching the deer when I heard the Whoppers distinct call in the distance.  I set my camera up in the back of my truck for better viewing.  Sure enough it wasn’t long before the first group came flying in.  At that time I forgot about the long drive, freezing hands, shivering body, light drizzle and blowing wind.  It was now a good day.
