Whooping Crane – Strutting

This Whooping Crane is strutting into the new year.  Have a Safe, Healthy and Happy New Year!

A Silent Moment

To my family, friends, those that follow by blog and those who come by to look, I wish everyone a special Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Great Egret – One Small Step

Taken during nesting at High Island Rookery in Texas.  You can capture some good wing action during mating.  However, I’m always smiling on the dismounts.  At times he seems confused as he slowly tries to find good footing.  Or perhaps he is just tired and dizzy.  Either way I’m just waiting for one to fall off so to speak.

Great Egret – Stand-Up

Taken earlier this year.  The Great Egret was shouting into a cool early morning sun rise as it made a soft landing.

Sandhill Cranes – Two by Two

I was trying to match up pairs as they came closer.  Two started coming down quickly as the top pair leader hollered out – “just a little further.”  It was pretty cool watching such long glide patterns.

Sandhill Cranes – Doubles

I’ve read where aircrafts are graded on their landings as they set down on an aircraft carrier.  When I saw these I had to smile and wondered if the two onlookers were somehow grading the incomings’ landings.
